80s

There is so much choice in the market for fancy dress costumes and accessories it is practically impossible to choose one for your party.However when the host of the party chooses a particular theme this makes it a little easier. Of course when it comes to dressing as an 80’s person there are plenty of types, a lot of them being in the form of 80’s pop icons. However we do not all want to be a particular famous person so why not just take some of the more over the top styling’s of the 80’s era to come up with your own mish mash of huge neon flair.

Here is what you may need

Basics                    -              For the basis of a neon fancy dress costume a black skirt/trousers or leggings and top should work. You will add on the amazing 80’s look to this.

Tutu                       -              Tutu’s are a fabulous 80’s accessory and come in many colours from bright yellow to turquoise.  This is an integral part of any over the top 80’s costume.

Leg Warmers     -              Leg warmers have of course recently been back in fashion but as most of us know it was the 1980’s these gnarley items were first in fashion. Especially if you go 80’s when it is cooler weather you are ready for it. Breaking into your own flash dance moves? Then these are perfect.

Gloves                  -              Lace gloves were very popular and look amazing on. Madonna did tend to wear these but i remember this mainly from the film ‘Desperately seeking Susan’.

Big Hair                 -              Some may be able to achieve this with their own hair, unfortunately a lot of people have shorter hair and are unable to achieve the huge hair look of the 80’s. If this is the case why not buy a wig. Long curly hair was all the rage in the 80’s. Perms many perms is what i remember. Why not add a large bow to the top to get a really funky look.

Makeup               -              Of course loud makeup was all the rage in the 1980’s with the bright red lipstick and bright blue eye shadow.  Make the addition of a great pair of amazing looking false eyelashes. In all manner of colours, sizes and types you are bound to find some wicked ones. Pink Feather Eyelashes with Stones would really work well.

Shoes                    -              Stilettos will work very well with this getup. As you are going crackers with the colours why not get white stilettos.

Bracelets             -              Many, many bracelets tended to be worn a lot of them being little rubber bands. If you know someone who makes the new loom bands why not see if they can make you some funky coloured ones!
